Manly to bus fans in to NRL preliminary final

12:36 pm on 19 September 2011

It's tough to get Sea Eagles fans away from their northern Sydney beaches and across the harbour bridge, so the Manly rugby league club is laying on free buses for their NRL preliminary final clash with Brisbane at the Sydney Football Stadium on Friday night.

The club's pushing for a rather less lacklustre atmosphere than the paltry crowd of just 13,972 who turned out for their first finals match against North Queensland at the same venue.

Manly were livid the Cowboys match wasn't played at home ground Brookvale Oval instead, while a later 8.30pm kickoff was also thought to have contributed to the poor turnout.

The fans will have less excuse to stay away with Friday's match starting at 7.45pm and a direct bus service running from various points on the northern beaches.
