The Newcastle and New South Wales winger Akuila Uate has been voted Player of the Year by his rugby league peers.
The Fijian-born flyer out-polled the likes of Paul Gallen, Johnathan Thurston, Benji Marshall and Billy Slater in votes cast each week of the season by the players.
NSW skipper Gallen was named representative player of the year, and Benji Marshall was voted New Zealand rep player of the year.
