Tennis greats are saying Novak Djokovic is having the greatest year in the history of the sport.
The likes of John McEnroe, Mats Wilander and the beaten US Open finalist in New York yesterday, Rafael Nadal, agree that the 24-year-old Serb is on the brink of of the best season ever having won three of the four major titles this year, seven other ranking tournaments, and lost just two matches from 64, one of which was an injury retirement.
McEnroe believes tennis is harder today than it was 27 years ago when he won 82 matches and lost just three times.
