The Southern Steel's defensive ranks have been bolstered for next year's trans-Tasman netball competition, with the signing of two players with extensive international experience.
Sheryl Scanlan, a 61-Test veteran, returns for her third season with the franchise and is joined by former Australian international Demelza McCloud.
Adelaide-based McCloud is no stranger to the New Zealand style of netball, representing the Otago Rebels in the National Bank Cup in 2007 before joining the Canterbury Tactix for their inaugural trans Tasman competition season in 2008.
She played for the Queensland Firebirds in 2009 and was called into the Melbroune Vixens team last year as a temporary replacement for the injured Julie Corletto but didn't play in the 2011 tournament.
