After collapsing and being stretchered from the track after just qualifying in his 1500 metres heat, there was further disappointment for New Zealand runner Nick Willis at the world championships in Korea.
Willis was last in the final at Daegu, exactly three full seconds behind the winner from Kenya, Asbel Kiprop.
The Olympic silver medallist was exhausted and dehydrated following his gruelling semi and had nothing left as the Olympic champion won by .23 of a second ahead of compatriat Silas Kiplagat in a time of three minutes 35:693 seconds.
American Matt Centrowitz was third in three minutes 36.08 seconds.
