The Wellington Phoenix have been beaten 5-1 by champions Brisbane in their A-League warmup match in Dunedin.
Queensland led 1-nil at half time.
Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert says he was particularly disappointed with some defensive lapses but the game had been important in that he needed to see the trialists in a game situation against decent opposition.
Their next pre-season match is against Melbourne Heart.
