North Harbour and Blues mid-field back Luke McAlister has been granted an early release from his New Zealand and North Harbour playing contracts to allow him to join up with French club Toulouse.
McAlister can leave North Harbour after their round 10 ITM Cup match against Counties Manukau tomorrow.
North Harbour Rugby Chief Executive Brett Hollister says they've worked with the New Zealand Rugby Union to negotiate an appropriate release, including an early release fee.
NZRU General Manager Professional Rugby Neil Sorensen says while it's a disappointing end to McAlister's career in New Zealand, they have agreed that this is the best outcome for everyone involved and they wish him well.
