Tiger Woods has missed the cut at the US PGA Championship for the first time, the former world number one carding a three over par 73 to bow out in the year's final major on 10 over par overall.

It's Woods' last tournament until early November in Australia.

Another American, the overnight leader Steve Stricker, also had a day to forget, unable to follow his record-equalling 63 with another good score, blowing out to four over 74 - but he's still just two off the top of the leaderboard heading into the weekend.

Two Americans are top after the second round - Jason Dufner's 65 bettered by Keegan Bradley's six under 64 for a one-shot lead ahead of fellow local D.A. Points and Australia's John Senden.

Another Australian, the WGC Bridgestone Invitational winner Adam Scott, produced a second straight 69 for a share of 11th, three behind the leaders.

US Open champion Rory McIlroy triple-bogeyed the par-three 17th hole after his tee shot ended up in water and the patched-up Northern Irishman finished three over, eight down the leaderboard from Dufner and Bradley.
