Upset win for Jacklyn Hawkes

New Zealand squash number two and world number 17 Jaclyn Hawkes has upset the Egyptian sixth seed Omneya Abdel Kawy in the first round of the Singapore Masters.

Hawkes won an 84-minute, five-game marathon and will now play the third seed and world number four Madeline Perry of Ireland in the quarter-finals.

But the New Zealand number one Joelle King lost to the Australian second seed Rachael Grinham in four games.
