Wairarapa United reached the semi-finals of the Chatham Cup for the first time in the football club's history with a 4-1 win over Waitakere City in Carterton on a day when three of the four Auckland quarter-finalists were bundled out .

Dunedin's Caversham were the biggest winners , beating 8-man Onehunga Sports 4-0 in Auckland.

Bay Olympic prevented not only a rare Dunedin double but also an Auckland shutout, with last year's runners up prevailing 5-3 over Dunedin Technical in the deep south after an entertaining 3-3 extra time draw.

Napier City Rovers were also forced to claw back a deficit, trailing Manurewa 2-0 in the second half of their tie at Park Island before a Stu Wilson penalty started a fightback that ended with a Matt Single goal clinching a 3-2 win in extra time.

The draw for the semi finals, to be played on August 1, will be conducted on Tuesday.
