Wins to Hawke's Bay and North Harbour in ITM Cup

Hawke's Bay and North Harbour have scored their first wins in this season's compressed provincial rugby championship.

Hawke's Bay defeated Southland 29-18 in Napier leaving the Stags with two losses before they try to regain the Ranfurly Shield from Canterbury on Friday night.

After starting with a loss to Manawatu Hawke's Bay is now the first Championship side to beat a Premiership side.

The Magpies led 13-6 at half-time.

Earlier North Harbour scored five tries and 33 unanswered points in the second half to defeat Tasman 39-15 at Albany.

Tasman led 15-6 at half-time but having lost in Northland on Saturday the Makos weren't as rested as Harbour, who'd opened the season with a loss to Otago on Thursday night and with more time to recover made fewer errors.
