The Russian cyclist Alexandr Kolobnev, who was thrown out of the Tour de France yesterday after failing a drugs test, has denied any wrongdoing, saying he did not know where the banned diuretic came from.
The dual Russian champion said French police had searched his hotel room and found nothing suspicious, and he also insists he wasn't sacked by his team, though under team regulations that would happen if his B sample is also positive.
