Aitken urges players not to rush decisions on futures

The Silver Ferns coach Ruth Aitken is urging her players not to make any rushed decision on their playing futures in the wake of the world championship loss to Australia.

Some of the side will arrive back home this afternoon with most interest centering on the Aitken's future as coach and the playing future of Irene van Dyk who turns 40 next year and Temepara George who's 36 in November.

Aitken's contract expires in September with the Silver Ferns due to play five tests in October two against England and three against Australia.

Former Silver Ferns coach Yvonne Willering says if Aitken's going to step down after ten years in charge, she should do so after the October tests.

Ruth Aitken has appealed to the public not to make Maria Tutaia the scapegoat for the loss, having missed a shot in the last seconds of the match.
