Dean to ride Tour de France

10:39 am on 29 June 2011

The New Zealand cyclist Julian Dean will ride the Tour de France for the 7th time after being named in the Garmin-Cervélo team for the classic which starts this weekend.

Dean will once again be the lead-out man for American sprinter Tyler Farrar.

Dean's best finish was second on a stage last year.

None of the team's six Australian riders, including 2009 Tour de France stage winner Heinrich Haussler, were selected.

Last week fellow New Zealanders Greg Henderson and Hayden Roulston both missed out on places in their respective teams.
