Lleyton Hewitt was the centre of attention on another rain-affected day at Wimbledon as he stretched the Swedish 5th seed Robin Soderling to the limit before succumbing in an epic five-set match under the centre court roof.
Hewitt, produced some of his finest tennis in years, took the first two sets, but the dual French Open finalist came through a classic five setter in just under four hours.
Hewitt's world ranking plunged to 130 earlier this month, and only last week the 2002 champion couldn't complete a match in a leadup tournament because of stabbing pain in his foot.
Novak Djokovic looked a man on a mission when he took just 15 minutes to blast to a 5-0 lead over Kevin Anderson, but the South African made the second seed work for almost two hours for his straight sets victory.
