Tall Ferns lose to Brazil

7:09 am on 20 June 2011

The New Zealand women's basketball team have fallen to Brazil 73-62 in their latest match at the four-nations tournament in China.

The sixth ranked Brazilian team were bigger in every position on the court and used their size well to dominate the early stages of the game while bad three point shooting cost the Tall Ferns.

Assistant coach, Dean Kinsman says the poor shooting was the Tall Ferns achilles heel and must be fixed after nailing just three of 18 from beyond the three point arc.

New Zealand's next game is on Wednesday against China followed by Australia the next night and then Brazil again.

The tournament is part of a build up towards the London Olympic qualifying series against Australia across the Tasman in September.
