Ferguson wants journalist banned for asking question

The Manchester United football manager Sir Alex Ferguson wants a journalist banned from future Champions League media conferences for simply asking a question about Ryan Giggs.

Giggs was identified in Parliament earlier this week as the married footballer named on Twitter for having an injunction over an alleged affair with a reality TV star.

Rob Harris of the Associated Press asked Ferguson about Giggs's importance to United for Sunday's Champions League final against Barcelona at Wembley, which received a terse response from the United manager, saying all of the players are important.

Ferguson then whispered to an aide, we'll get him. Ban him.

Both Ferguson and Barcelona counterpart Pep Guardiola are required by Uefa regulations to give pre-final media conferences on Friday.

But a United spokesman says the club has no jurisdiction to ban Harris as the match is run by the European Football Association.
