UCI admit drawing up 'suspicion index' list

Cycling's governing body has admitted to drawing up a list in which it had estimated the "doping risk" of each rider at last year's Tour de France but the UCI regrets the document has been made public.

The French sports daily L'Equipe unveiled a list, on which riders ranked from zero for not suspicious to 10 for highly suspicious.

The UCI says it's a working document to help to steer testing, not a list of riders who've done something wrong.

The average index of the 198 riders from the 2010 Tour is 2.4 and New Zealand's Julian Dean is rated one.

Only two riders are rated 10s while the champion Alberto Contador is among 15 rated at five and former champion Lance Armstrong is among 19 on four.

New Zealand's Julian Dean is rated one.
