The All Whites striker Shane Smeltz says he's confident he can help turn around Perth Glory's fortunes after signing a three-year deal with the A-League football club.
Smeltz, who's a two-time winner of the competition's golden boot award, played for Gold Coast last season and joins Perth as its international marquee player.
Perth finished second to last in the competition last season, only ending up ahead of the now defunct North Queensland.
Smeltz says he doesn't believe one player can change everything but believes he can help out.
Having scored 48 A-League goals during stints with Wellington Phoenix and Gold Coast, Smeltz is set to become only the second player to reach 50 goals in the competition.
The Perth club says it also has an agreement with former Liverpool star Robbie Fowler to return to the club for another year.
