Crusaders announce "home" schedule

7:10 pm on 24 March 2011

The Crusaders have confirmed their remaining round-robin "home" games for their Super Rugby season on the road, thanks to the Christchurch earthquake.

Timaru gets two, another goes to Nelson and one each to Napier and Wellington.

After Monday's match against the Sharks at Twickenham in London, the Crusaders will play the Bulls in Timaru on April 9.

That'll be followed by the Highlanders in Nelson on Easter weekend, April 23, then the Chiefs in Napier on May 21, the Blues in Timaru on June 11 and the Hurricanes in Wellington a week later.

Crusaders chief executive Hamish Riach says they're happy to give some clarity around the remaining home games and the Hawkes Bay Rugby Union's offer to play a home game in Napier was a great fit. A number of Crusaders, including Zac Guildford, Kahn Fotuali'i and Israel Dagg, hail from the region.

Riach says playing the Hurricanes in Wellington feels like a really appropriate way to repay the wonderful support they got from the Hurricanes at the time of the abandoned round two game.
