Great Quake puts All Whites' friendly against Japan in doubt

2:53 pm on 12 March 2011

The New Zealand football side's friendly with Japan in Tokyo at the end of the month is in doubt following the devastating earthquake and tsunami there.

The All Whites were scheduled to play the newly-crowned Asian football champions on March the 29th but alternative opposition may now have to be found as Japan assesses the damage and loss of life caused by the great quake.

The under-17 men's side were meant to leave for Japan on Tuesday for the Sanix Cup international tournament at Fukuoka, but that appears even less likely to go ahead.

The Japanese women's hockey team has vowed to continue their five-Test series in New Zealand. Game two of that series is in Hamilton on Sunday.
