6:40 pm on 4 March 2011

New Zealand Cricket has confirmed that Canterbury and Wellington will each be allocated three points from the Plunket Shield match abandoned as a result of the Christchurch earthquake.

New Zealand Cricket, the six Major Associations and the New Zealand Cricket Players Association have unanimously agreed to this allocation of points after the round five match was abandoned last week.

Canterbury has 15 points and Wellington 13, both chasing theShield leader Central Districts on 26.

The dates for rounds six and seven have been adjusted to give Canterbury additional time to recover from the impact of the earthquake and to protect the competition's integrity.
