NZ Cricketers devestated by Christchurch earthquake

11:47 am on 23 February 2011

The New Zealand Cricket team manager Dave Currie says the side is devestated by what has happened in Christchurch.

Currie says many of the team, who are competing in the World Cup in India, were woken by calls from friends and family early yesterday morning.

He says their thoughts are firmly with the people of Christchurch and deepest sympathy with those that have lost loved ones.

Captain Daniel Vettori echoed the sentiments saying it's obviously been tough for a number of the guys from the team and the management crew based in Christchurch.

The International Cricket Council is to discuss with World Cup organisers how they can most appropriately remember those who lost their lives or have been injured and affected when the Black Caps play their next match against Australia in Nagpur on Friday.
