Breakers win again

12:10 pm on 14 January 2011

The New Zealand Breakers have strengthened their hold on the lead in the Australian National Basketball League with a 94-88 home win over Cairns.

In a re-run of the Breakers' last home game they trailed for much of the top of the table game, the Taipans letting their lead slip with seconds left in the third quarter.

The Breakers have now won 12 of their 15 games and the loss drops Cairns to nine and four.

The second win over the Snakes could be important at finals time too, if the teams are tied on points.

Kirk Penney with 24 points and Gary Wilkinson with 22 led the home side again while CJ Bruton with 13 points sparked the comeback.
