The Wellington Phoenix footballers scored a much needed 2-nil home win over the Melbourne Heart last night to get their spluttering A-league campaign back on track but the Wellingtonians are well aware they aren't out of the woods just yet.
Striker Paul Ifill repaid the faith shown in him by coach Ricki Herbert after than a less than impressive start to the season scoring both of the Phoenix' second half goals to lift the side to sixth on the table.
Ifill says the Phoenix are relieved to get the monkey off their back after losing 5 of their last 6 games, but the Barbados international says there's still a long row to hoe for the Wellington club.
The Phoenix next face the Melbourne Victory in Wellington on Saturday night.
Meanwhile in other A-league action the Brisbane Roar extended their lead at the top of the table to six points beating the Perth Glory 3-2 at Suncorp stadium and the Central Coast Mariners drew 1-all at home with the Newcastle Jets.
