The New Zealand V8 supercar driver Jason Richards is recovering in a Melbourne hospital after successful surgery to remove a tumour in his abdomen.
The Holden driver was diagnosed with the tumour last week, and immediately stood down from the final two races of the V8 Supercar season.
He was kept in an induced coma yesterday, and is due to have another minor procedure today.
