New Zealand remains alive at the FIFA under-20 men's football tournament in Chile.

The Kiwis beat Egypt 2-1 in their second group game in Santiago.

Egypt opened the scoring after just five minutes before Luke Brooke-Smith answered in the 13th minute and Xuan Loke put New Zealand ahead three minutes later.

However, after that it was all one-way traffic with Egypt completely dominating the second half.

New Zealand stood strong on defence and goalkeeper Henry Gray was called on numerous times to keep the Africans out.

New Zealand lost 2-1 to hosts Chile in their opening game, while Japan beat Egypt 2-0.

Chile and Japan meet later on Wednesday.

New Zealand's final group game is against Japan on Saturday.
