Kiwi Jahrome Hughes could make a dramatic return from injury in the NRL play-offs.
The star halfback has been included in Melbourne Storm's squad for Friday night's grand final qualifier against Cronulla.
Hughes has played just one match in the past two months after breaking his forearm in early September. It followed a dislocated shoulder suffered in July.
There was a chance that Hughes was going to miss the rest of the season.
However Storm coach Craig Bellamy has included the Dally M medalist in his squad and is likely to make a final call on his availability closer to the game.
With a pad around his arm Hughes returned to the training field on Tuesday.
"I think he's ticking all the boxes at the moment with the physios," five-eighth Cameron Munster told Newscorp.
The other grand final qualifier is on Sunday between Brisbane and Penrith.
