NZ Breakers have suffered their second loss of the new Australian NBL season, thumped 114-82 by Melbourne United.

A rough to start to their new campaign, with two round-one losses, was compounded this time by their total inability to counter a dominant United side.

The Breakers lost their first match of the new season to Brisbane Bullets on Friday, while they were outplayed in that match, it was much worse against Melbourne.

They certainly missed star Sam Mennenga, who was ruled out of the clash, after being concussed in the Bullets match.

The Breakers were down 34-15 after the first quarter, 55-33 at halftime and 89-55 after the third quarter.

United generated many of their points from pressure from their fastbreaks, after forcing rebounds and turnovers, with Dutchman Jesse Edwards the big star, scoring 22 points.

American Izaiah Brockington led the Breakers scoring with 21 points, while centre Rob Baker II scored 17.

They next host Perth Wildcats next Saturday.
