New Zealand sprinter Zoe Hobbs has been given entry into this week's Diamond League Finals in Zurich.

Hobbs competed in three Diamond League 100m events this season and finished tenth in the overall standings.

However a couple of the higher ranked athletes were unable to compete in Zurich and so Hobbs was given a place in the nine-strong field.

Hobbs, who is ranked 17th in the world, broke her own New Zealand and Oceania 100m record at a Diamond League meeting in the Czech Republic in June with a time of 10.94 seconds.

In her three Diamond League meetings this year, the 28-year-old had a best finish of third in Monaco in July.

The women's 100m field for Zurich contains Olympic champion Julien Alfred of St Lucia.

There are two other New Zealanders in the Finals meeting.

Olympic high jump champion and world number one Hamish Kerr was the top qualifier after winning two events, while shot putter Tom Walsh was fourth overall during the season.

Up to $85,000 is on offer for winners of the disciplines in Zurich this week.

Tom Walsh competes on Thursday morning (NZ time) and Hobbs and Kerr on Friday morning.
