The New Zealand Olympic Committee secratary general Barry Maister has been giving his first extra duty with the IOC, having been named on their 11-person evaluation commission that will analyse the 2018 Winter Olympic bids.
Germany's Munich, South Korea's Pyeongchang and Annecy in France are bidding to host the 2018 Games with a decision to be taken in July next year.
The 2018 commission will analyse the candidature files before making on-site inspections of the cities in February and March next year.
It will then issue a report ahead of the vote that will take place in July in Durban, South Africa.
