Spain's Rafael Nadal has charged into his first U.S. Open tennis final after beating Russia's Mikhail Youzhny in straight sets 6-2 6-3 6-4 in the first men's semi-final at Flushing Meadows in New York.

The world number one will play either Switzerland's Roger Federer or Novak Djokovic of Serbia in Monday's final as he bids to complete his own career grand slam.

Nadal has already won each of the other major titles but had never made it past the semi-finals of the U.S. Open before now.

Yet to drop a set in the entire tournament, Nadal completely overwhelmed the 12th seeded Youzhny on a perfect sunny afternoon in New York, racing to a lopsided victory in two hours and 13 minutes.
