Warriors prop Addin Fonua-Blake is looking to leave Auckland despite having three more years left on his contract.
The Warriors have confirmed reports Fonua-Blake has requested an immediate release from his contract on compassionate grounds.
Chief executive Cameron George said the club is considering the request.
The Dally M Prop of the Year was a key part of the Warriors' run to the NRL preliminary finals this year but the 27-year-old looking to move back to Sydney to be closer to his parents.
Fonua-Blake joined the Warriors in 2021 from the Manly Sea Eagles where he debuted in 2016.
The latest development in the New Zealand and Tonga international's NRL journey is the second time he has asked a club to release him from his contract on compassionate grounds - he did the same with the Sea Eagles in 2020.
Fonua-Blake is one of three players contracted beyond the next 24 months - the others are forward Marata Niukore and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.
