New Zealand paddling legend Dame Lisa Carrington paddled to a fourth gold medal in the women's K-1 500 at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Duisburg, Germany.
The five-time Olympian now boasts 14 gold medals from the championships - including eight in the K-200 - since she won her maiden title in 2011.
The day before Dame Lisa and teammates Alicia Hoskin, Olivia Brett and Tara Vaughan became the first K4 crew from New Zealand to win a world championship title.
The 34-year-old was in a class of her own in the K-1 500 storming across the line more than a second ahead of her nearest rival in a time of 1:47.769.
Her blistering time, which was seconds faster than her Olympic gold time of 1:51:21, shows there is no sign of New Zealand's most successful Olympian slowing down anytime soon.
Emma Aastrand Jorgensen of Denmark followed in 1:49.102 with Hungarian paddler Tamara Csipes bagging the bronze in 1:50.699.
The victory means a New Zealander has held this title for three consecutive years, with Aimee Fisher taking the win in 2021.
Just as Dame Lisa secured an Olympic quota spot in the New Zealand women's K4 500m historic win on Friday, she will compete in the K1 500m event at the Paris Olympics in less than a year's time.
After only a few hours off the water she returned in the Women's K1 200m semi final, which she won in 38.898, the fastest time across the three.
Aside from her three gold medals at Tokyo 2020, New Zealand's most successful Olympian has picked up gold medals at London 2012 and Rio 2016 and will be looking to extend that streak in Paris.
