India captain Rohit Sharma and opener Shubman Gill both scored centuries to put the homeside in a dominant position after they were asked to bat first.

Young gun Gill made 112, six days after scoring a double ton in the first game, while Rohit hit 101 as the duo powered India to 385-9 after being put in to bat.

Jacob Duffy took three wickets for 100 runs from his 10 overs, while Blair Tickner too three for 76.

In response, New Zealand opener Devon Conway made 138 but the rest of his teammates produced an underwhelming batting performance as the visitors were bowled out for 295 with eight overs remaining.

Finn Allen scored a two-ball duck, while Henry Nicholls made 42, Mtchell Santner 34, Michael Bracewell 26 and Daryl Mitchell 24.

Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets each, while Yuzvendra Chahal took two.

Captain Tom Latham said.

"The start with the ball wasn't great and we did well to bring them back to 380.

" It doesn't sound right but it is, and then to be bowled out in 40 overs didn't go right for us.

India won the second ODI in Raipur by eight wickets, and the first in Hyderabad by 12 runs.

India now top the ICC men's ODI rankings, while the Black Caps drop to fourth.

The teams will next compete in a three-match Twenty20 series, starting on Friday in Ranchi.
