Wood is leaving Newcastle and heading to Nottingham Forest on a loan deal for the rest of the season.

Woods and the clubs have agreed the deal, with the 31 year old to have a medical.

He could be available for their game against Bournemouth this weekend.

The deal could lead to a permanent shift if certain conditions are met.

Wood signed with Newcastle from Burnley a year ago for $48 million and played a crucial part in their Premier League survival.

He has played 18 games for the Magpies this season, but only four starts.

Wood has also played once in the FA Cup and three times in the League Cup, scoring three goals in his 22 appearances in the 2022-23 campaign.

Under new ownership Newcastle have invested heavily in players and Wood has spent most of his time on the bench.

Newcastle is fourth in the standings and Nottingham Forest 13th.

Forest boss Steve Cooper has been keen to add reinforcements in the January transfer window, despite their influx of new arrivals last summer when the club set a new British record by making 22 signings following their promotion to the Premier League.

Forest have netted just 15 goals in 19 games, with only Wolves having a lower tally in front of goal.
