The Breakers have been forced to pull out of Friday's Australian NBL basketball clash against the Wildcats in Perth because of a Covid outbreak.

Seven players have tested positive for Covid.

"The rules in the NBL say you need to have eight players or more to compete in a game and we don't," said coach Mody Maor.

"It's a terrible situation for us..after what we've been through."

Covid has had a major impact on the club over the past two year, being forced to relocate for two seasons.

Last season, Covid struck down the playing roster three times.

This season has been more of a return to the past, with games at home in New Zealand again.

The Breakers have played 16 games in the 28-game regular season and sit second on the league ladder.

They are now working with the Perth officials to re-schedule the game later this season.

Maor expects enough of his players will be healthy again to play the Breakers' next scheduled game against the Bullets in Brisbane on Wednesday.
