English football clubs Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have edged closer to the UEFA Cup knockout stages with crucial away wins.
City made it two wins out of two in Group A with a 2-nil victory over Germany's Schalke in Gelksenkirchen.
Tottenham beat Dutch side NEC Nijmegen 1-nil.
The top three teams in each of the eight groups go through to the knockout stage where they will be joined by the eight third-place finishers from the opening round of the Champions League.
