It was the Ferns' first win in eight matches this year and just their second in 12 matches under Klimkova, who was appointed a year ago on a six-year contract.
New Zealand suffered a setback ahead of the match with striker Hannah Wilkinson Grace Jale both testing postive for Covid-19 and being ruled out of the match.
The Ferns' play the Phillipines in LA on Wednesday as they continue their build up to next year's World Cup.

Price and Vitali riding high at Burgley

Price riding Vitali sits on 21.3 points only narrowly behind the leader Kitty King of Britain riding Vendredi Biats who scored 21.2 penalty points.
"Vitali is very capable and he's been working well all week. If he's in that frame of mind he normally stays that way for a few days so I'm looking forward to the (cross country) tomorrow," said Price.
Price also sits in 16th and 21st spot on Bango.

Golf takes Bairstow out of T20 Cricket World Cup

England batter Jonny Bairstow has been ruled out of the third Test against South Africa and the Twenty20 Cricket World Cup after suffering a possible broken left leg while playing golf.
The 32-year-old slipped walking to a tee box and will see a specialist to ascertain the extent of the injury.
Bairstow confirmed he will need surgery on his Instagram account.
Bairstow has been in top form this year, scoring 1,061 runs and six centuries in 10 Tests, and remains a key part of England's white-ball teams.

Soul Cap gains approval
A swimming cap for afro hair has been approved for use in top-level competitions.
The specialised covering - designed for thick, curly hair and styles such as dreadlocks, weaves and braids - was banned from last year's Olympics.

FINA announced last year it would review whether the Soul Cap designed to fit over dreadlocks, braids and afros could be used if there was no advantage to be gained from using them.
"Promoting diversity and inclusivity is at the heart of FINA's work, and it is very important that all aquatic athletes have access to the appropriate swimwear," said FINA Executive Director Brent Nowicki
Manufacturers Soul Cap welcomed the decision by FINA to add the cap to its approved swimwear list from Sept. 1.
Black swimmers are outnumbered in elite swimming, with the sport seeking to break down socio-economic barriers.
British Olympian Alice Dearing, who is Black, had partnered with Soul Cap to help promote greater diversity, with some young Black women reportedly put off swimming because of hair issues.
