The National Basketball Association plans to build an entertainment and sports arena in Shanghai as part of expanded operations in China.
The NBA will be part of a joint venture with a Chinese company managing an 18,000-seat arena, which will be part of a complex for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.
The venture is suibject to the approval of the Chinses government.
The NBA has opened four offfices in China.
