Hawkes Bay has held out a stirring second half recovery from Waikato to win 31-28 in Napier and complete the semi-final lineup in the provincial rugby championship.
The Magpies swooped early with two slick tries to lead 14-nil after 10 minutes then added two more just before halftime.
They deserved their lead, although 28-0 was fortuituous because an obvious forward pass wasn't spotted in the lead up to the fourth try.
Waikato came back strongly in the second spell, scoring four converted tries, with the hosts only points coming from a penalty goal.
But that was enough for a fourth consecutive win over Waikato and to get Hawkes Bay into the semi-finals for the second year running.
They'll play Canterbury in Christchurch on Saturday night and Wellington will host Southland on Friday night.
