New Zealand flanker Josh Blackie is returning to New Zealand and will play for the Blues in next year's Sport Super 14, as a replacement for Daniel Braid, who's off to the Queensland Reds.

The 29-year-old Blackie, who's playing for Kobe Steel in Japan until early 2009, has signed a two-year contract with the New Zealand and Auckland rugby unions.

Blackie, an former Junior All Black, national sevens, Otago and Highlanders player, says he's pleased to be coming home to Auckland, where he grew up.
