The American road cycling superstar Lance Armstrong will launch his comeback next year in January's Tour Down Under in South Australia.
The seven-times Tour de France winner has confirmed the Adelaide-based event will be the first in his comeback, which is aimed at winning an 8th Tour de France title.
The Tour Down Under race director Mike Turtur says it'll be the biggest sports event in the State's history, and the South Australian premier Mike Rann expects Armstrong's presence to attract as many visitors to South Australia as were attracted to Melbourne for the Commonwealth Games two years ago.
Armstrong will be using his comeback to promote a global cancer awareness campaign.
