An unapologetic Sonny Bill Williams says he hopes his trailblazing defection to French rugby union will be the catalyst for a better deal for league players in the NRL.
The former New Zealand international has brushed off off claims he let his former teammates down with his abrupt departure from Australia.
Williams told the Nine Network's The Footy Show he's no coward, isn't greedy and stood up for the rights of players to be treated a bit better and not just like cattle.
He says he hopes his defection to Toloun will result in a better deal for league players.
He also brushed aside claims he'd let his former teammates down with his abrupt departure from Australia and says he has no regrets about his walkout, other than the fact he'll never play rugby league again.
The NZRL on Friday named Williams in the Kiwis World Cup squad.
The Bulldogs and the NRL head back to court in Sydney today to seek an injunction preventing Williams from playing with Toulon, with whom he is set to make his debut early tomorrow morning.
