Nice supporters threw water bottles as Marseille were about to take a corner and, after visiting forward Dimitri Payet hurled one back at them, a full scale brawl ensued when some of the fans rushed on to the field.

Both teams retreated to the tunnel and play was held up for 90 minutes before referee Benoit Bastien declared it abandoned, with Nice players having returned to the pitch several minutes earlier while the Marseille players refused to join them.

Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere had appealed to Nice supporters over the sound system for calm during the delay but angry Marseille players and staff were adamant in refusing to carry on.

French daily L'Equipe reported that visiting players Payet, Matteo Guendouzi and Luan Peres were injured in scuffles with the crowd and riot police were deployed in front of the tier packed with Nice fans.

Nice were 1-0 up when play was interrupted after Swedish striker Kasper Dolberg fired them ahead in the 49th minute with Marseille missing a string of first-half chances.

Hartley, the winner in 2017 and 2020, and teammates Sebastien Buemi of Switzerland and Japan's Kazuki Nakajima have finished behind the other Toyota driven by Japan's Kamui Kobayashi, Mike Conway of Britain and Argentine Jose Maria Lopez.

Kobayashi had qualified fastest in four of the last five Le Mans but until today he and his teammates, the reigning world endurance champions, had yet to win the greatest race on the sportscar calendar.

Last year the crew lost half an hour in the garage with a turbo problem, that could have proved terminal, just after the halfway mark and finished third.

In 2019 the number seven car led most of the way but had to stop twice at the end of the race, once for a puncture and then because of a wrong tyre change during the initial stop which dropped it to second place.

In 2017 Kobayashi and Conway missed out due to a burned out clutch.

The overnight leaders were locked at 12-under heading into the 18th in a thrilling final round in which six players were tied for top spot at nine-under at one point.

But it was Nordqvist who delivered under pressure with a par after Madsen had found the bunker with her wayward approach shot en route to a double bogey that pushed her down the leaderboard to tied-fifth at 10-under.

England's 2018 champion Georgia Hall was tied for second place at 11-under overall alongside Swede Madelene Sagstrom and American Lizette Salas.

New Zealand's Lydia Ko finished in a share of 29th place at two-under par, 10 shots behind Nordqvist.

Chelsea continue strong start to Premier League season

A goal by Romelu Lukaku on his second Chelsea debut and a strike by defender Reece James earned the Blues a 2-0 win at London rivals Arsenal, their second victory in as many games at the start of the Premier League season.

Lukaku needed only 15 minutes to get off the mark for the Blues after his reported 97.5 million pounds transfer from Inter Milan, tapping in a cross played into his path by James.

The wing-back scored Chelsea's second goal himself 20 minutes later, taking his time to fire past goalkeeper Bernd Leno after being found in acres of space by Mason Mount.

Earlier Manchester United were given a reality check after last week's storming start to the season when they could only draw 1-1 at Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday after forward Mason Greenwood cancelled out an own goal by team mate Fred.

United began the campaign with a 5-1 home win over Leeds United last weekend but could not repeat that performance and were lucky not to lose to Ralph Hasenhuettl's organised and dynamic side.

And Harry Kane came off the bench to make his first Tottenham Hotspur appearance of the season as Dele Alli's penalty earned coach Nuno Espirito Santo a 1-0 win on his return to his former club Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Caruso spent the final 70km of the 188km stage from Puerto Lumbreras to Alto de Velefique out front alone and although Roglic and Enric Mas were eating into his lead by the end, the 33-year-old clung on to win his fourth grand tour stage and his first at the Vuelta since 2017.

Caruso crossed the line in five hours, three minutes and 14 seconds, one minute and five seconds ahead of Roglic, who edged Mas to the line by one second to increase his advantage over the Spaniard to 28 seconds in the general classification.

Mas launched a brave attack within the final four kilometres and only Roglic could stay with him, widening the gap between the duo and the other Vuelta hopefuls.

Miguel Angel Lopez is one minute and 21 seconds behind Roglic in third, Jack Haig one minute and 42 seconds back in fourth, while Giro champion Egan Bernal is one minute and 52 seconds back in fifth.

The judges scored the fight 115-113 116-112 116-112 in favour of Ugas, who controlled the second half of the contest with his jab as the more aggressive Pacquiao struggled to land his punches on his return to the ring after a two-year absence.

Pacquiao, the only man in boxing history to hold world titles in eight different divisions and one of the greatest boxers of all time, said he is yet to decide if he will call time on his 26-year professional career.

"I don't know, let's just see," said Pacquiao, whose record dropped to 62-8-2. "Let me relax first and make a decision.

"I'm sorry I lost tonight, I did my best but my legs were very tight and that is why I couldn't move as well as I wanted."
