The Wellington Phoenix are still waiting to hear whether they can get into Australia despite Football Federation Australia confirming the A League will resume in a month's time.

The A League football competition will resume on July 16th after a four month hiatus due to coronavirus.

The FFA has confirmed the re-start with the third placed Phoenix playing league leaders Sydney FC on July 17th but the Phoenix will have have to complete the remainder of their regular season matches in New South Wales.

Melbourne Victory will kick off the re-start against Western United with the remainder of the fixtures yet to be worked out.

"The reason for having multiple draw options - which our clubs are across - is due to the fact that over the next few weeks there may be additional relaxations in border restrictions and travel movements in Australia, which may enable our clubs from Victoria, Queensland and South Australia to remain and play in their home cities, rather than relocating to New South Wales to complete the season," said the FFA's Greg O'Rourke.

There are still six regular rounds plus the playoffs left.

"With our finals series still the best part of two months away, we are keen to keep our options and thinking open regarding how and where that may be held," said O'Rourke.
