The former Wallabies lock Dan Vickerman will be available for next year's World Cup, having signed a three-year deal with the Australian rugby union.

The 31-year-old lock played 55 Tests for Australia before heading to England in 2008 to study at Cambridge University.

The deal from 2011 to 2013 is expected to have Vickerman return in time for the latter stages of the inaugural Super 15 competition next year and be available for the World Cup in September and October.

Vickerman played four Tests under coach Robbie Deans in 2008 and would be considered an automatic first choice for the Wallabies.
