The German golfer, Bernhard Langer, has won the Senior Open by one shot from the American Ryder Cup captain, Corey Pavin, in Scotland.

Langer managed a closing round of 72 for a five-under par total, and has now finished in the top 10 in seven of his 12 Senior Majors.

Pavin, who was playing in his first Senior Major, says he was disappointed not to come away with the win.

Meanwhile, New Zealander Sir Bob Charles, who missed the cut, has confirmed the Open was his last appearance in a major international tournament.

The 74-year-old says it wasn't a difficult decision to make, and joked that after missing his third cut in a row, he felt he had struck out.
