The Board of New Zealand Cricket has announced that Sir John Anderson is not available to be considered as a nominee for the position of Vice-President of the International Cricket Council.
Based on an international rotation system, it is the turn of New Zealand Cricket and Cricket Australia to jointly nominate a Vice-President candidate to the ICC.
In February, they jointly nominated the former Australian Prime Minister, John Howard.
It is understood New Zealand had wanted Sir John to be the joint nominee, but once Mr Howard was decided on, it gave him its full support.
However, late last month a meeting of the ICC Executive Board rejected John Howard's nomination and the two Boards were asked to re-nominate a candidate for the role by August the 31st.
The New Zealand Chairman, Alan Isaac, says he has approached Sir John but unfortunately he is not available to be considered for the role.
Mr Isaac says the NZ Cricket has again talking to Cricket Australia to decide how to proceed.
