Carlos Alberto Parreira was close to tears as he bade farewell to South Africa, the World Cup adventure over but his pride intact.
The 67-year-old has coached at six different World Cups but won his first game with a country other than his native Brazil when the hosts beat France 2-1 in their last Group A game this morning.
The result was not enough to clinch a place in the second round but ensured an honourable exit for Parreira who says the team can hold their heads high
